This summer we endeavored to make the greatest table you have ever seen. It took us over 100 hours to build a solid base of highquality pine wood and over 18 hours to lay out the bottle caps. We built a 3/4inch pine edge around the whole table so that the recess in the middle could then be filled with over 2200 bottle caps. After staying up all night laying out caps we poured over 2 gallons of epoxy on top and leveled it out. We stained and polyurethaned the table multiple times in order to get it as shiny as possible. Our table weighs over 250lbs and is about 8.5 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. The triangles on either side of the table are exactly the same, completely flat, and perfect for a 10 cup setup, with caps laid down the center of the triangles to arrange easier 6 cup, 3 cup, and 1 cup placements. We also added clips to the bottom of the table so that the 8 screw-on legs can be taken off and snapped into the bottom allowing for easier movement.
We attempted to colorcode the table to spell ZBT using the following:
The triangles are composed of Budweiser Selects Crowns outlined by Heineken The Zeta is original Budweiser Caps The Beta is Miller Highlife The Tau is Newcastle caps The "Z" is Busch The "B" is Corona outlined with Labbatt Blue The "T" is Budlight The filler space is Coors and we added a border of random awesome caps that we obtained
We have attached pictures of us creating the table, starting with the base up through the cap setting, to the final project. We hope you enjoy!! |
